How do you get immediate pain relief for ear pain?
I’ve heard of garlic, lavender, collodial silver. I tried some oil of oregano and garlic, hydrogen peroxide, sudafed, ibruprofen, nasal spray and I’m not getting relief. On a weekend, I would only be able to go to the ER which would be a really wasteful thing to do. I don’t have a fever and my eardrum has not exploded – yet.

Tylenol,,, the only other deal would be to try some heat,,,, you probably have an infection in your ear canal (swimmers ear),, they sell medicine for it at any drug store or wal-nart,,, but here are two links that may help you
or here is a home remedy site that is cool
You may have a buildup of wax in your ears. You can get some ear wax softener that comes with a little syringe. After a couple days use, maybe three, when you are taking a hot shower, cup your hand and catch some of the water in it, fill the syringe and squirt the water inside the ear and lean to that side and let it run out. If that is the problem, the ear should feel better with no pain. You can also lay on a warm heating pad for about 15 to twenty minutes. You could also have an inner ear infection which antibiotics prescribed will clear that condition. When I was younger, my Father used to blow cigarette smoke in my ear. It wasn’t the smoke that helped, it was his warm breathe. Heating pads are used today. Best to you young lady and good luck on finding out what’s causing you the pain, and that it goes away, never to return. PS I hope you are not using Q-tips or bobbie pins to stick in your canal trying to clan them out. Those things will scratch the ear canal and become infected.
Please, DO NOT WAIT to go to the ER. I, myself, waited when I had minor pain in my ears. My regular doctors didn’t even see anything…supposedly. The next night, I was crying in my bed because of pain in my ear. I went to the ER and it turns out, I had Double Otitis Media, which is an infection of the Middle Ear, both left and right. It was more on the left, so they recorded it as Left Acute Otitis Media, but it progressed to a Double Ear Infection. If an ear infection is left untreated, it could lead to a brain infection, which could kill you. That is one of the most rarest occurrences, since most people have a doctor attend to their health concerns and problems. However, self-neglect can lead to the infection.
As for your pain, there are ear drops that numb the inside of your ear, which are completely harmless. I think the ear drops may be prescription only, though. The ER doctors prescribed me an antibiotic medicine and I’m pretty sure those ear drops. If they weren’t prescribed, then it was the doctors who told me to pick them up for the pain. Believe me, if it weren’t for those ear drops, I would have had to stay in the hospital for a while because the pain was UNBEARABLE. I do not remember the name, but if you go to your local Pharmacy, I’m sure they will be able to help you.
Basically, you put about two drops into your ear. Then, right around your auditory canal, you rub your finger gently in front of the pinna (the rubbing helps to move the drops deeper into your ear canal). The drops provide instant relief and helped me to relax and go to sleep.
Also, the doctors recommended that I take Tylenol in compliance with the antibiotics and the ear drops. In around five days, my ear infections were completely gone.
Hope this helps and please to go see a doctor, before the pain gets worse!
*Note: If it were a build up of ear wax, you would be able to use your pinky finger to remove the wax and any pressure and/or pain would be gone (my ear, nose, and throat specialist told me this; he said the pinky is around the exact size of how far you should go into your ear…basically, close to your pinky finger cuticle). Also, recurring pain is a sign of an ear infection, so you need to seek medical attention, soon. Another sign is sometimes muffled sound because of the liquid and build-up inside of your ear. Also, you may feel pressure in your sinuses and throat. Lastly, you may feel slight pain around your upper jaw.
Wow…never hold your nose, while simultaneously closing your mouth and blowing…you could in fact damage your ear drums. You’re not supposed to do that normally, so doing it with an ear infection will only make it worse. The PROPER and SAFE way to open up your Eustachian Tubes is to either swallow or yawn multiple times.

I have used a hot wet towel (as hot as you can stand) laid over my ear. Leave it there until it has cooled. I have heard of using a hair dryer to blow warm air into the ear.
You can also use Sweet Oil to sooth the pain. You can get it at the pharmacy, health store or WalMart. You warm it to body temperature, under your arm, them put a few drops in the ear.
Hope you get to feeling better. If not, I’d go on to the doctor.
None of those are going to do anything for otitis media, which is a middle ear infection, and probably what you have. If Ibuprofen, or aspirin doesn’t relieve the pain, you may have to be examined and hope to get prescription for something stronger. In the meantime, you can try Valsalva maneuver to try to open the eustachian tubes and drain any exudate. You hold your nose and close your mouth and blow, trying to create pressure to “pop” your ears. You can also take a decongestant to try to limit the fluid in the ear cavity,
